Townsend Bedroom

Named for Nathaniel Townsend, who in 1831 received a land grant from the Mexican government in exchange for his willingness to settle in Texas.  While he had various stores in several counties, he built the dwelling that is now Texan Lodge in Warrenton,   as required by the land grant. This room has extra historical significance that guests will note on one of the walls.  Preserved in a frame case are signatures, dated 1877.  The signors are the volunteer firefighters who saved the home from destruction in that year.
